Understanding Anthropology history can be as
important as understanding human beings and how he has been developing his
civilization, and of course, in this way it is necessary to understand what
role education has played in this development. Undoubtedly, history, biology
and mental sciences have been quite important in the pursuit of understanding
mankind evolution and all these knowledge areas have suffered a process that
education has registered step by step; in this way, teachers and educators have
been an essential part of this evolution.
However, it's easy to fall in prejudices which
maybe we wouldn't understand as such. For instance, it was quite interesting to
see how our point of development is the rule in which we can measure how cultures
and civilization has advance. But is this practical? Historically, humans have
been discovering things that refute (and maybe ridicule) old beliefs; in this
way, why should we think the way we do and think the world is the “one”? In
this order of ideas, education must prepare the learners of all ages, to be
open-minded, creative and tolerant, and in this way, they could be prepared for
face the world and its new tendencies, and specially, to create and use new
knowledge.
Other very interesting point here is to understand
that there are some human aspects which have been defining the world conception
of humanity, these are the religion and economics, mainly and, nowadays, we can
evidence a tendency to avoid religion in many different social aspects in the
society. It is true that secular States should be apart from these religion
theories in terms of taking decisions or making changes in public policies,
but, I think, it’s necessary indeed to understand human beings since (or
passing by) this aspect who has make all kind of changes and evolution. That’s
why, I Think, it’s very important to develop, not only the exact sciences but
also the spiritual side; not according with a particular belief, but
recognizing the important of all the beliefs and, of course, its incidence in
human evolution.
According to the linguistic aspect of
Anthropology, we can see that this has been a very important aspect to
understand how anthropology has classified human groups or understood how a
person belonging to a specific group is also an individual different from their
partners, but similar in terms of social behavior. In this aspect, I can
conclude that Second Language learners must know the target native language
community, because to take a language apart from its speakers is a mistake,
maybe similar to take a fish out of water to understand how it lives. But according to these ideas, I guess that
there are some aspects that could bring Chomsky and Skinner’s ideas about
languages: first, human development I quite similar in different cultures with
different stages of “civilization”, what suggests that there’s an innate
ability to “learn to speak”; and on the other hand, there are specific aspects
recognized as “learnt from the group” in which it can be seen some imitated
costumes. Of course, it is just a reflection that needs to be prepared,
studied, proved and, why not, refuted.
